Richland Academy is excited to offer two college music scholarships to high school seniors planning to participate in college music classes this fall.
The first award is the J. Frederick “Fritz” Wolf Scholarship: a vocal scholarship in the amount of $350. This award will be given to one vocal student who is currently a high school senior and planning to participate in music in college. Applicants are required to sing one song from the Solo and Ensemble Senior High Vocal Solo Class A list.
The second award is the Dr. Thomas H. Croghan Scholarship for a jazz student (vocal or instrumental) in the amount of $300. This award will be given to one jazz student who is currently a high school senior planning to participate in music in college this fall. Applicants are required to perform one jazz standard from memory (solo or with accompaniment) and to improvise 4 choruses of F, G, or C blues. Richland Academy will provide recorded rhythm tracks for the improvisation portion.
The auditions for these awards will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2 p.m.
The top two finalists will be expected to perform at the Student Music Recital at Richland Academy on Sunday, May 17, at 2 p.m. The awards will be announced and presented during the recital.
