CLEVELAND (Friday, Feb. 20, 3:47 a.m.) — The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a wind chill advisory that remains in effect until noon today. Expect very cold temperatures and wind chills continue this morning.
Even though winds will be light at times, they will combine with the cold temperatures to create wind chill values of 10 to 25 degrees below zero. The coldest wind chill values will occur early this morning when temperatures are at their coldest and southwest winds return.
Wind chill could reach as low as 10 to 15 below due to temperatures 12 degrees below zero to 4 above zero.
Frost bite and hypothermia are possible if the proper precautions are not taken.
A wind chill advisory is issued when strong wind will combine with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin. The wind will make it feel like it is 10 degrees below zero or colder for a period of several hours. if you will be outdoors use common sense and dress warmly, making sure that all exposed skin is covered. If possible, avoid prolonged exposure to the cold to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
