Strong winds are developing today according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland. Southeast winds will gust to 45 to 50 mph. and the strongest winds are expected this afternoon. The High Wind Warning is in effect from 10 a.m. this morning until 8 p.m. this evening. Damage to trees, power lines, and property is possible.
Areas of impact include Ashland, Crawford, Knox, Marion, Morrow, and Richland counties.
The report states that a deepening low pressure system over lower Michigan will continue to move quickly northeast today dragging a strong cold front east across the local area. Stronger southwest winds are then expected behind the cold front this afternoon and evening. Wind gusts could exceed 60 mph across northwest and north-central Ohio. Scattered showers may enhance the threat of damaging winds along the front.
