Billy Reeder

Billy J. Reeder, 76, of Mansfield, died Saturday, Aug 16., 2014, at Grant Medical Center.

Born July 27, 1938 in Soldier, KY, he was the son of Arthur Paul and Bessie Mae (Bradley) Reeder.  Billy was a 10-year veteran serving with the U.S. Air Force and Reserves, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant.  A retired steel worker from Armco Steel, he was a member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church and an avid Cleveland Indians fan.  Billy was a loving husband, father, and “paw paw” and always enjoyed visiting with family and friends. 

He is survived by his wife, Shelva (Thompson) Reeder of Mansfield; sons, Michael (Marian Zeigler) Reeder of Mansfield and Phil Reeder of Ontario; daughter, Rhonda Kay (Butch) Phillips of Ontario; grandchildren, Samantha (Jason) Hotz, Travis (Skylar) Reeder, Justin Reeder, Elizabeth Langston, Adam Utiss, Summer (Billy Salser) Reeder, Zach Reeder, Maranda Ray (Jordin Duncan), Kasandra Ray (Mitch Sauder), Ryan Phillips, and Ashley Phillips; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Reeder of Salvisa, KY and Jack (Betty) Reeder of Galion; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Reeder; brothers, James and Lloyd Reeder; and sister, Geraldine Burton.

Friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by Brother Larry Hill, Jr.and Brother Herman Copley. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
