Mohican School in the Out-of-Doors is offering a safe boating day camp for students in grades 5 through 8 Aug. 4-7. The camp is located at Pleasant Hill Park near Perrysville.

Students will participate in the Ohio Boating Education Course that is required for power boat operators born on or after Jan. 1, 1982. The course follows the nationally recognized Spirit of America Safe Boating Program.

This program teaches safe boating skills in a variety of water craft including row boats, pontoon boats, sailboats, jet skis, canoes and kayaks. Students will learn safe boating while under the watchful eyes of experienced boaters.

The class will begin at 9 a.m. and students will take the Ohio Boating Education Course. After lunch they will be taught safe boating using a hands-on approach to safe boat handling and operation. The class ends at 4 p.m. and parents are responsible for transportation.
