State Representative Mark Romanchuk, R-Ontario, announced that the State Controlling Board approved the release of $676,883 for the funding associated with renovating the Health Science Center at North Central State College and $104,220 to be released to The Ohio State University for the Mansfield Campus Framework Project.

According to documents from the Office of Budget and Management, as a result of the projects and state assistance provided, both campuses will be updated in Richland County. The NCSC project will include renovations of classrooms, computer labs, and multi-health service labs. Two entrance ways that are not energy-efficient will also be replaced.

At the Mansfield Campus of OSU, a new main campus entrance will be created south of the existing entrance, which will be closer to commercial and residential areas. A two-lane roadway and pedestrian right-of-way will also be added along with pedestrian and bicycle accesses, which will include multi-purpose paths, safety lighting, emergency communication, and signage.

“I was pleased to hear that NCSC and the Mansfield Campus of OSU are receiving funding for renovation projects,” Rep. Romanchuk said.  “Ensuring that students at these facilities have the proper resources to learn is imperative and watching out for their safety in the form of lighting, signage and emergency communication systems is vital to our community.”
