Willie Mae Williams, 70, of Mansfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, July 10, 2014.
Willie was born on June 19, 1944, in Crawford, MS, to Tom and Peach Ella (Johnson) Walters. She was a traveling evangelist who enjoyed going to church, singing, and praising God. She loved her children and grandchildren and was a blessing to all who knew her. She was married to Ozzie Williams, Sr. for over 50 years, and he preceded her in death on August 18, 2013.
She is survived by six children, Willie Lou (Lewis) Brooks and Kenny Brewer, both of Columbus, MS, Freddie Williams, Rena Williams, and James (Buffi) Williams, all of Mansfield, and Ricky (Stephanie) Williams of Jackson, TN; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two aunts, Willie Mae Thomas and Rosie Henderson both of Chicago, IL; one uncle, Willie (Helen) Brooks of Starkville, MS; seven sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; three god-daughters, Cynthia Kyser, Ingrid Cheatman, and Teresa Samuel; and a special caregiver, Jasmine Lawerence.
Along with her husband, Willie was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ozzie Williams Jr; and five sisters, Idella Hurt, Pressive Phillips, Dora DeLoach, Annie DeLoach, and Tomella Thomas.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Oasis of Love, 190 Chester Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at the church, with Dr. Walter E. Jordan, II officiating and Supt. David E. Dennis doing the eulogy. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. A Repast will follow the burial, at the church.
