Mansfield, Ohio– The North Central State Board of Trustees, at their May 21, meeting, renewed and extended the contract of college President Dorey Diab for three years through June 30, 2017.
In the resolution to approve the renewal, the board noted that Dr. Diab has worked collaboratively with the trustees to create a great vision of access and success, and to align resources to accomplish that vision and has provided evidence of demonstrated compliance toward each of the Ends Policies.
He was commended for leading the ongoing work on the Ends Policies and Strategic Planning metrics that guide the board and the administration team in monitoring its work and for working to provide meaningful academic programs and training to meet the future needs of employers.
The board also agreed that he worked diligently to provide a balanced budget and increase reserves, and commended him for the grant dollars raised and his continuing efforts in working with our legislators to bring capital dollars to North Central State College and the campus.
Diab expressed his thanks to board members stating, “I was proud to be chosen to lead North Central State College, and am pleased with the vision and focus of our Board of Trustees. I thank them for extending my contract so that we can continue the work we have begun to serve our students as we help lead the revitalization of north central Ohio. I feel their strong support at each meeting, and share their passion for our mission to provide access and success to all students.”
The Board of Trustees represents a geographical balance from the technical college district, with members having necessary occupational diversity to display sound policy-making leadership. The nine member Board of Trustees draws representation from the official college district of Ashland, Crawford, and Richland Counties. Three trustees are appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. The remaining six trustees are appointed by the county, city, and exempted village boards of education whose districts are embraced by the technical college district. Each trustee is appointed for a three-year term. In order to be eligible for appointment to the Board of Trustees, the individual must be a qualified voter in the College district.
The Board of Trustees adheres to the Carver Model of Governance which provides overarching policy guidelines, and measures for the operation of the college.
