The City of Mansfield Water Repair Department will be shutting down water service to the area of Woodville Road between South Diamond Street and Reform Street on Monday, Feb. 3 beginning at 9 a.m. due to a water main repair.
According to Jeff Elder, foreman at the Water Repair Department, the water shut down is due to a minor leak in the water main. Water service is expected to be restored to the area by the end of the workday on Monday, barring any unforeseen problems.
“The leak is not that bad,” said Elder. “It shouldn’t take us that long to get it fixed.”
To prepare for the water shut down Monday, Elder advises residents in the area to keep a few jugs of water on hand for use, especially to flush toilets.
“A lot of people fill their bathtubs up so they have water,” he said.
Elder said the Water Repair Department does not expect to issue a boil alert to the area. The only time a boil alert is needed is when a piece of the water main has to be removed.
Questions concerning the water shut down may be directed to the City of Mansfield Water Repair Department during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 419-755-9806.
