Football isn’t the only thing to get excited about this weekend: while the Broncos and the Seahawks prepare for the 48th Super Bowl on Sunday, The Rehab Center in Mansfield gears up for its 23rd Rehab Telethon on Saturday.
From 12 noon to 9 p.m. at the Richland Mall, the Rehab Telethon will host local celebrities, community guests and live entertainment in the center court of the mall. Success stories of clients who have benefitted from The Rehab Center’s services will also be featured throughout the day.
In addition to performances from the Lexington High School Fire ‘n Ice show choir, Millennium School of Irish Dance and various bands, there will also be story time with Clifford the Big Red Dog, face painting, magicians and much more activities for kids.
Amanda Zucker, Event Coordinator for The Rehab Center, said herself and more than 300 volunteers have been planning this year’s telethon since the summer of 2013.
“(The telethon) actually started at the station at WMFD and kind of outgrew itself there,” said Zucker. “From there it moved to the Richland Mall.”
Proceeds raised at The Rehab Telethon directly support the community services provided by The Rehab Center, including audiology services, a community center for the deaf and hard of hearing, mental health and crisis services for children and adolescents, and many more.
Zucker said those wishing to pledge money to the telethon can pledge in person at the Richland Mall, or call either 419-529-5200 or 1-800-589-1133 between the hours of 12 and 9 p.m. on Saturday.
“We are fortunate to have the support of many local businesses and industries,” she added. “We’re very thankful for all the sponsorships.”
The Rehab Telethon is sponsored by WMFD, Phillips Mfg. & Tower Co., Inc. – Shelby Welded Tube, Richland Bank, Jay Industries and Lamar Advertising.
“We welcome everyone to stop out to the mall, there’s lots of fun entertainment for the whole family,” said Zucker.
