Little Washington Congregational Church held their annual Ice Cream Social & Cruise-In on Saturday and the event drew a crowd to enjoy the food and cars. Live music was also provided. It was a gem of an event that some area residents just stumbled upon on Saturday.

Diane Muntan, of Lucas, however, was not a chance visitor. Muntan is a member of the church and was just one of the attendees enjoying the event. Her granddaughter Mya Meyers of Bellville tagged along and enjoyed the ice cream.

“It’s a community outreach event,” stated church volunteer Natalie Beckert. There were no trophies for the cruise-in but there was maybe something better. Each driver enjoyed their meal for free and that meant hot sandwiches, potato or macaroni salad, corn on the cob, and the choice of an array of desserts.

A 1964 Chrysler 300K was one of the cars on display. The letter series cars were high-performance luxury cars built by Chrysler Corporation from 1955-1965. The cars were precursors to more recent muscle cars. The car was originally purchase in 1964 from Reedman Chrysler in Langhorne, PA.

A 1958 Ford Fairlane was also displayed. The car was purchased new at Moorehead Ford in Mansfield and was locked in a garage for 30 years before it was brought back to life.

Little Washington Congregational Church is located at the corner of Hanley and Little Washington South roads. Next summer, this could be the leisurely Saturday outing the whole family can enjoy
