The Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre: Workshop Showcase is an exciting opportunity for young performers to hone their skills in both acting and singing. Directed by Lori Turner, this workshop offers students in grades 2–12 a chance to work one-on-one and in small groups with guest professionals in a collaborative setting. Participants will refine their vocal techniques, develop their acting abilities, and perform fully staged scenes from a variety of musicals and plays.

The workshop is designed to allow young actors to shine in smaller cast settings, providing personalized attention while also promoting teamwork. With two age groups (2nd–6th grade and 7th–12th grade), the program is tailored to the skill levels and needs of the performers. Students will meet on multiple days leading up to the final showcase performance.

Registration for the 2026 RYOT Workshop Showcase will open soon. For more information or to register, please contact RYOT Director Lori Turner at lori@mansfieldtickets.com. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to grow as performers and experience the thrill of live theater in a supportive and educational environment.

Please note: RYOT Workshop Sessions will take place beginning January 6, 2026, and will meet on multiple days leading up to the Showcase Performance. Registered participants will be contacted by RYOT Director Lori Turner prior to their first session.

In this needle felting class, you’ll learn to sculpt an adorable bear using wool roving (the fiber created in the process of preparing fleece for spinning). Needle felting uses a barbed needle to repeatedly poke the fiber, causing it to tangle and become firm.

You’ll learn the basics of creating three-dimensional shapes, including how to build a core form, add outer colors, shape arms, feet, and facial features.

Students may choose their own colors and design a unique bear. As time allows, you can also needle felt fun “bear accessories” like scarves, hats, and more.

Needle felting is easy to learn and surprisingly relaxing—lots of poking makes great stress relief! With just a needle, some fiber, and a little imagination, you’ll be amazed by what you can create. No two bears will look alike, and that’s part of the fun!
