MANSFIELD — Graham Auto Mall is inviting the community to participate in a special Book Drive now through Christmas Eve, benefiting the Big Red Bookshelf, a Richland County United Way project dedicated to supporting early childhood literacy.

The Big Red Bookshelf project provides new or gently-used books to children from birth through 3rd grade in locations throughout Richland County where families with young children regularly visit.

Donated books are placed on bright red bookshelves — built by volunteers—and offered free of charge to children who need them. This effort is powered entirely by donations from local businesses, organizations, and community members.

“This project is a wonderful example of how a community can come together to support early learning,” said Jessica Thompson of Graham Auto Mall.

“We’re proud to help keep these shelves filled and accessible for local families.”

Donation Focus

For this drive, Graham Auto Mall is collecting new and gently-used books for newborn through kindergarten-aged children, as early childhood books remain the most urgent need.

Board books, picture books, and simple early learning titles are especially appreciated.

(Teen and young adult books are not needed at this time.)
