A Christmas parade down Main Street will follow all activities at 6 p.m., followed by a tree lighting and fireworks at 6:30 p.m. Folks may also stroll through the Black Fork Commons along the “Winter Wonderland Walk.” Food trucks will be on site, too.

The Curry Family, honoring their parents, Linda and Denny Curry, has donated two beautiful Christmas trees to the heart of downtown this year.

A 24-foot tree will illuminate Black Fork Commons Plaza, while a second tree will adorn the community bandstand, decorated by the Shelby Flower Girls, a local beautification group. The family has also provided a large holiday wreath for the plaza’s fireplace.

Paul and Carolyn Armstrong also joined the holiday cheer with a gift of two nine-foot nutcrackers that will stand at the entrance to the plaza.

These contributions were made possible through collaboration with the Community Improvement Corporation of Shelby, the City of Shelby and The Shelby Foundation.

Additional sponsors of this year’s Christmas in the City, which is organized by the Shelby Downtown Business team, include the Shelby Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kilgore, Herring and Associates LLP, S & S Second Chances, Shelby Mutual Insurance Agency, Browning Construction, Lloyd Rebar, Benham, Ream and Studer Co., LPA, Kelly Gross and Bonnie Slone.
