MANSFIELD — The 2016 Mansfield Area Walk to End Alzheimer’s is set for Saturday, Sept. 17, based at Eisenhower Hall on the OSU-Mansfield Campus.
The goal of the walk is to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The Mansfield Area Walk is just one of more than 600 walks planned for late summer nationwide.
Registration and sign-in for the walk begins at 9:30 a.m., with a brief ceremony planned for 10:30 a.m. The walk will step off at 11 a.m. Walkers can register as a participant or as part of team. Anyone who raises $100 or more receives a special walk t-shirt.
While registrations are welcome on walk day, on-line preregistration is recommended.
The family-centered event is the result of year-long planning by community volunteers and the generosity of sponsors and donors. Lead sponsors this year are OhioHealth and Liberty Nursing Center of Mansfield.
All walk proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, the leading non-profit organization dedicated to those with memory loss and their families. The organization is also the leading contributor to research efforts.
For more information about the walk or to find out how to volunteer, contact Cindy Jakubick of the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, at 800-272-3900 or cjakubick@alz.org.
