Edgar W. Strohm Sr., 83, of Bucyrus passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at his residence lovingly surrounded by his family.
Born August 24, 1933 in New Washington, he was the son of John Fred and Rosa (Feitchner) Strohm. He married Darlene (Davis) Strohm on February 7, 1954 and she survives.
Edgar was a graduate of New Washington High School and served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Galion and retired in 1998 after a 42 year career as a tool and die maker with General Motors in Ontario. Edgar enjoyed traveling and camping in his motor home with his family. He liked to golf, play cards (especially euchre), work in the garden and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Edgar enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Ken (Barb) Strohm of Galion and Ed (Dawn) Strohm, Jr. of Canal Fulton; grandchildren Rachel (Mike) Campbell, Erin (Derek Overcashier) Strohm, Derek Strohm, Tracy Bond, Natalie Bond, Angela Bond and John Bond; great grandson Liam Overcashier; brothers Kenneth W. (Doris) Strohm of New Washington and Forrest “Pete” Strohm of Tiro and sisters Lulu Gearhart of Crestline, Lillian McDougal of Plymouth and Ethel Reed of Tiffin.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Marvin, George, Orlo, Weldon and Loren Strohm and sisters Geneva and Janice Strohm.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 27 with Rev. Matt Wheeler officiating.
Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
