Students in front of a brick wall
Students from Madison and Lexington had lunch Friday as part of a pen-pal program.

MADISON TOWNSHIP — Two north central Ohio high school classrooms have been swapping letters in a pen-pal lesson.

On Friday, Susie McBride’s Lexington’s cross-categorical high school students and Amy O’Connell’s Madison Comprehensive cross-categorical high school students finally met.

The two classrooms were pen pals throughout the school year.

“This is a way for our students to foster communication skills through a mode other than social media,” O’Connell said. “This also helps our students to see the world through someone else’s perspective.”

Lexington students took a bus to Madison Comprehensive High School and met the pen pals that they had written all year long.

Activities were planned in the library for the students. The Ramble Inn also provided lunch for the Minutemen and Rams.
