Charlotte Hellinger’s retirement was announced at Ontario City Council’s regular meeting Thursday night. In other council activity, council member Larry Arnold thanked police and city officials for their help in the Fourth of July Festival and Mayor Larry Collins gave an update on the bandshell project. Also, Service-Safety Director Roger Heston made note of hydrant flushing that will occur at the end of July.
Dan Zeiter, President, announced that Councilwoman At Large, Charlotte Hellinger will retire effective July 31. She provided a written statement and Zeiter read, “It has been a privilege to serve the city of Ontario since 1988 as a member of city council. I have enjoyed working for the city and it has been an honor to serve our community for the past 25 years.” Zeiter said, “I have spent 10 years with Charlotte and things are going to be a little different.”
Councilmen Larry Arnold wanted to show his appreciation publicly for the hard work that city workers and police officers displayed during the Fourth of July Festival, “I want to thank police officers and city employees for their hard work with the Fourth of July Festival. They put a ton of time in during that event. They had their hands full and they did a great job,” said Arnold.
Mayor Larry Collins provided council with an update on the bandshell project in Marshall Park. “We did get a permit for the installation of the electric. It will not be ready for this week, but hopefully it will be by the next opportunity for concerts,” said Collins A concert will take place on July 19 at 7 p.m. featuring Northwest Territory Bluegrass.
Service-Safety Director, Roger Heston, announced that Springfield Township Fire Department will be doing hydrant flushing starting the week of July 29. The hydrant flushing will take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
