MANSFIELD, Ohio – Richard Marx will perform a concert at the Renaissance Theatre at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10. Marx is most well known for his hits like “Should’ve Known Better,” “Don’t Mean Nothing” and “Hold On To the Nights.”
Marx released his first album in 1987 and has had much success over the past three decades. His self-titled debut album reached No. 8 on the Billboard charts and included four Top 5 singles. Marx was nominated for a Grammy (Best Male Rock Vocal Performance) for the track “Don’t Mean Nothing.” His second album, “Repeat Offender,” went quadruple-platinum and reached No. 1.
Very notably, Marx is the only male artist to have his first seven singles make the Top 5 on the Billboard charts. In 2004, he won the Song of the Year Grammy for “Dance With My Father,” a song he co-wrote with Luther Vandross. Marx’s most recent release was “Beautiful Goodbye” in 2014, his eighth studio album.
Fresh off releasing “Beautiful Goodbye,” his first studio album in 10 years, Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Richard Marx will hit the road this fall for a highly anticipated U.S. tour. The multi-city tour will kick off Oct. 4 in Ferndale, WA with additional dates through mid-November. Says the singer, “I’m very excited to tour behind my new album Beautiful Goodbye and play some new songs along with all the hits.”
In the last few years Marx has also found time to write for other artists, most recently Keith Urban (with whom he scored Urban’s No. 1 smash “Long Hot Summer”), Jennifer Nettles, Sara Bareilles and the upcoming release by Vince Gill. Across all formats, he has scored an amazing total of 14 No. 1 singles, both as a performer and a songwriter/producer, making him a true multi-talented threat who continues to challenge himself and his fans. He holds the honor of being one of a handful of artists who have had a number one hit in each of the past four decades. He has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
