MANSFIELD, Ohio – The Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter will kick off its 2015 Mansfield Walk to End Alzheimer’s Wednesday, July 29, at 8 a.m. in the Training Room at the Area Agency on Aging at Hawkins Corner, 2131 Park Avenue West. Walk participants and team leaders are encouraged to attend; the public is invited.
Additionally, social workers and nurses can receive one free continuing education unit (CEU) at a special educational program from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m., following the kick-off celebration.The presentation will include a research update on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The public is invited to stay for the presentation.
A light breakfast with coffee will be provided.
During the celebration, team captain packets and a team gift will be available and 2014 Top Walk Teams will be recognized.
Those in attendance may register for the walk, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13 on the OSU-Mansfield Campus. Walkers and teams may also register on line at http://act.alz.org/Mansfield2015. Advance registration is advised but not required. The website is also a good way to explore opportunities to sponsor the walk, donate, volunteer or learn more about the walk.
Walk check-in and registration begins on the campus at noon with a brief ceremony at 1:30 p.m. The walk steps off at 2 p.m. The walk route is less than two miles. The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
