MANSFIELD — The Mansfield Cavs 6th grade team has won back-to-back tournament championships.
The youngsters played in the Tyger Classic tournament in Mansfield the weekend of May 5 and 6. They met the Mansfield Cavs 5th grade team in the championship game and took first place.
Last weekend the 6th graders traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana and competed in the GRBA State Championship basketball tournament. Again the 6th grade team won the crown.
The Cavs last event is a national tournament in Cincinnati. The 6th grade Mansfield Cavs players attend Mansfield City Schools, Madison Local school district, and Ashland City Schools.
All of the players participated in the Friendly House basketball league and several were on different teams over the winter. They are dedicated players and have been playing basketball for the past seven months.
