Phyllis M. Harbaugh, 78, of Mansfield, passed away early Tuesday, April 20, 2017, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.

She was born Feb. 22, 1939, to the late Willard and Irma (Cross) Oney.

Phyllis was a hairdresser for 50 years and previously worked at Fingertip, Identity and LA Hair. A mentor to many, her wise and knowledgeable manner of communicating with others allowed everyone to achieve the best in themselves.

She was very encouraging and was a compassionate woman, more comfortable with caring for others than having attention given to herself. Phyllis enjoyed keeping up with area and national politics. She was also involved in many charities, giving of her time, talent, and financially whenever possible.

In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling and exploring the different cultures of various places. Gardening, feeding the squirrels and birds, especially her favorite bluebirds, were her favorite activities. She kept young by visiting with her grandchildren whom she adored.

She is survived by two sons, John Harbaugh and Jeff Harbaugh and his wife, Jeri; two grandchildren, Austin and Alex; niece, Kathy Tackett; nephew, Tom Schneider; and many friends. Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Harbaugh; father, Willard Oney; mother, Irma Wolfe; sister, Audrey Schneider; brothers, Duane Oney and Dick Oney; and nephew, Chuck Schneider.

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at a later date. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
