Dorothy M. Eckstein, 83, of Galion died Thursday morning, April 9, 2015 at home after failing health. 

Dorothy was born May 26, 1931 in Cuyahoga County to Charles and Garland (Rothschild) Eckstein. After her graduation from New Washington High School in 1949 she married Emerson Eckstein three months later on September 17, 1949. 

A member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Dorothy was a homemaker and drove school bus for 11 years for New Washington and Galion Public Schools. She served as Worthy Matron of the Attica Order of the Eastern Star. More recently she belonged to Naomi Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Galion and was currently a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Upper Sandusky. She was also a member of the Women’s Society of the New Washington United Methodist Church. 

In addition to her husband of 65 years she is survived by her son Allen B. (R. Diane) Eckstein of Sandy, Utah, daughter Gail L. Eckstein of Shelby; grandchildren Michelle (John) Meehan of Pacific Palisades, Calif. and Kevin (Nilufer) Eckstein of East Lansing, Mich. and a great-grandaughter, Emerson Meehan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Ellen Wagmon. 

At Dorothy’s request no services or visitation will be held.
