Recently a group of men from Woodville Grace Brethren created a local woodshop to offer help to anyone interested in woodworking. The Woodville Woodshop provides the space and any necessary tools needed to create wood projects. The mission is build relationships while building projects.
Bill Crabbs, Roger Hancock and Charlie Eidt are talented woodworkers with many years of experience in building custom cabinets, furniture pieces and other wood projects. They enjoy working with others to help them build custom pieces for their own homes.
Many people who come to the woodshop may have little to no experience but are able to receive one-on-one instruction to help them learn new skills.
“We currently have a gentlemen who started coming with no woodworking experience. He is now finishing up his custom medicine cabinet,” said Bill Crabbs, “And this is not one of those small medicine cabinets you get at the store.”
The woodshop is open to individuals who want to learn a new skill or finish a project. Up to 6 people can be accommodated for any group wanting to get together for an activity or class. It is a perfect time for fathers, sons, grandsons and grandfathers to spend together. The woodshop is also a great place for men’s groups who want to participate in a local activity.
While men are the ones who most frequently visit the woodshop, women are also welcome.
Scrap wood is provided for small projects. Anyone who is looking for a place to start a project is welcome to use the faculty using their own wood. A donation of $5 a day or a maximum of $20 a month is requested to help maintain the utilities.
The Woodville Woodshop has beautiful handmade pens available for a donation of $15 each to help support the ministry. You can also make your own pen for $10. The pens make a great gift for anyone.
The Woodville Woodshop is located at 1552 W. Cook Road in Mansfield. The hours are Tuesdays 6 – 9 p.m. and Saturday 9 – noon. It is also open by appointment on other days of the week.
Classes for specific skills are to be announced. If you are interested in learning more about The Woodville Woodshop please contact Bill Crabbs at 419-512-5439 or email billcrabbs@gmail.com.
