Crestview 8th graders Morgan Leid and Owen McKinney won the Clayton Blust award.

OLIVESBURG — The Clayton Blust Award is presented to one male and one female 8th grader at Crestview Middle School that displays leadership, honor and strong character in and out of the classroom.

These students are of exemplary quality and are positive role models for the younger students in the school. This award is named after Clayton Blust, an outstanding math educator who taught at the former Union School (now within the Crestview Local School District) for many years.

This year’s recipients, named at an all-school ceremony on May 25, were 8th graders Morgan Leid and Owen McKinney.

Morgan is the daughter of Dave and Abby Leid. Her activities include singing on the worship team for her Church, Club Softball, babysitting and Helped with Vacation Bible school.

“It means so much to get this award because it shows who saw the leadership that I have,” Morgan said. “When trying to be a leader, I will help in any way possible.

“When someone is in need, I will try to be there to comfort them when they need it the most.”

Morgan would like to thank her parents, and the people in her life that have helped her to be the best she could

Owen McKnney is the son of Josh and Beth McKinney. He has participated in cross country, football, soccer and honors band.
