LOUDONVILLE — She led Loudonville to another Mid-Buckeye Conference title, scoring her 1,000th point along the way.

Sophomore sensation Corri Vermilya’s star is one the rise.

Vermilya was selected the Mid-Buckeye Conference Player of the Year and Loudonville coach Tyler Bates was selected the Coach of the Year, sharing the award with Mansfield Christian’s Megan Young.

A 5-foot-9 guard, Vermilya scored her 1,000th career point in just her 47th high school game. With two years of high school basketball still in front of her, Vermilya could become one of only a handful of area players to eclipse the 2,000-point plateau.

She averaged 27.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 5.5 steals and 1.1 blocked shots per game. She scored 30 or more points seven times, including a pair of 40-point outbursts, and recorded a pair of triple-doubles on the season.

Vermilya was joined on the All-MBC first team by Loudonville’s teammates Shalen Guillioams and Maddie Kline.

Guilliams tied her own single-season record with 92 3-pointers and connected on 265 treys during her career. The senior averaged 17.4 points per game. Kline 4.7 points and 6.0 rebounds a night.

Mansfield Christian’s Alexis Rippel and Anna Sparks and Lucas’ Shelby Grover and Marissa Caugherty were also selected to the All-MBC first team. They were joined by Kidron Central Christian’s Jocelyn Horst.

Lucas’ Kylea Foss and Tori Sauder were selected to the All-MBC second team, along with Crestline’s Kennedi Sipes, Mansfield Christian’s Aubrynn Maiyer and Loudonville’s Jalyn Johnson. They were joined by Kidron Central Christian’s Chloe Troyer.

Honorable-mention picks included Lucas’ Ryan Culler, Mansfield Christian’s Kyle Jones, Loudonville’s Kenzie Cutlip, Crestline’s Maddie Engler and Kidron Central Christian’s Zoe Jarvis.
