In youth football, Mansfield picked up a win over Ontario this week. The Tygers won 6-0 over their cross-county rivals.
“They did good, played a good team, [we were luck] to come out with a victory” was the final comment from the 4th Grade Tygers’ coach, Marques Brown.
This statement about the 6-0 victory for the Tygers at Arlin Field definitely rings true. The Tygers were able to score a touchdown in the first quarter but were unable to put any more points on the scoreboard. Both Ontario and the Tygers played a great game with some impressive defense.
The love of the game was definitely evident on no. 43 Ricky Mills’ face; it’s amazing to see these young athletes out on the field putting their all into the game.
“It’s a good experience to interact with the kids and get them ready for their future,” said Coach Brown. The first time Ontario and the Tygers met, Ontario came out with a victory, the Tygers were not willing to lose this time. The games only last for so long but the lessons these young athletes learn will stay with them for a lifetime.
