While your city council editorial was well written, it overlooked the one main reason why nothing gets done. Term Limits!
There is no one there with a long TERM historical perspective. They are just there to fill a seat for a mostly narrow minded conservative agenda.
You can not get anything done when all you are concerned about is your next narrow agenda election, and then you are gone! But after you leave all the Lobbyists are still their.
Term Limits have also ruined the State of Ohio’s legislative body. At the state level they attend a school to learn the process of legislating. Again, no history is know! The only people who know the history are the lobbyist. Being a Legislator used to be considered a great career, if you did the job well for your constituents you were re-elected.
Why in the hell would any good person today want a job with such a limited future. The only people who can afford to be in these positions are the already Corporate Wealthy, or the paid for social agenda extremists. This keeps the “status quo” monied controllers in power.
And when they are done being elected in there gerrymandered Republican district they become CORPORATE LOBBYIST!
The people of this city and state were easily conned into voting for Term Limits. It was all the conservative vogue in the 1980’s. After forty years of this anti government is bad ranting, we have finally gotten the TERM LIMITED government we deserve! And in the mean time nothing ever gets done!!!!!
