The Gorman Nature Center has scheduled a variety of free events for all ages.

On Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m., a program titled “The Flight for Life — Midwest Monarchs” will be presented. Attend this interesting program on the plight of the Monarch butterfly and learn how you can make a difference.

On Saturday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m., meet “Dr. Richard Bradley — The REAL Spider Man!” Arachnophobia is an acquired fear that can be reversed by knowledge and exposure. Face your spider fears by coming to Gorman Nature Center for this fascinating 2 1/2 hour program. It will begin with a Power Point program indoors that will last for 45 minutes to 1 hour, after which attendants will go outside and search for spiders including sweep netting and beat sheet work. A show-and-tell session will follow the search. Dr. Bradley’s books, “Ohio’s Backyard: Spiders” and “Common Spiders of North America” will be available for purchase and signing at the program.

“The Night Sky” will be on display on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 9 p.m. for the nature center’s monthly informal night sky watch. Explore the night sky with telescopes for planets, stars and galaxies. This month’s session will be held only if the sky is clear.

The Gorman Nature Center is located at 2295 Lexington Ave., south of Mansfield. All programs are free and open to the public. For additional information call (419) 884-3764.
