Just like her famous brown bread, there was nothing artificial about Lorraine Campbell. Her strong faith in the Lord Jesus was as pure as the organic Montana wheat she ground herself and raw honey that went into her loaves. And the love she had for her family was as wholesome as the flax seed and dough enhancer that made her bread light – replacing yeast.
“The Bread Lady” is at rest, as Lorraine passed into the Lord’s presence Thursday afternoon, March 9, 2017 from her rural Bellville home. She was 80.
Born Aug. 13, 1936 in Mansfield to Willard B. and Anna Belle (Hoverstick) Prosser, she was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1954. She worked as a receiving agent with the former King’s Department Store, then worked nearly 20 years in the production department of General Industries.
Lorraine baked her “Best Brown Bread” for nine years to sell at the farmer’s market on Bellville’s town square. It was a natural extension of her love of baking. Her elderberry and grape pies were extraordinary – well, all of her pies were extraordinary.
A member of Impact Worship Center, she loved the Lord, and wanted everyone she came into contact with to know about Jesus.
She also invested her heart in her family that includes her children Sharon (Mike) Garrett, of Coshocton, Susan (Dave) Thompson, of Butler, Gary (Melanie) Campbell, of Mansfield, and Daniel (Cheryl) Campbell, of Brooksville, Florida; grandchildren Heather (Jeff) Caisse, of Lexington, Holly (Jason) Skelly, of West Salem, Eric (Teasha) Sargent, of Mansfield, Bradley (Angela Howard) Sargent, of Circleville, Corey Campbell, of Columbus, Cody Campbell, of Toledo, Eryn Campbell, Austin Campbell, Mitch Miller and Mariah Miller, all of Mansfield, Olivia (Anthony) Beeler and Molly Campbell, both in Florida; great grandchildren Jacob, Kierstin, Chloe, Lillianlove and Archer; and a sister Laura Mae Shields, of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Gerald LaVern Campbell in October 2003; and sisters Charlotte Ann Stewart, Francie Jacobs and Jeanie Hagedorn.
The Campbell family will receive friends Monday, March 13, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Mike Sweeney will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
Contributions in her memory to OhioHealth Hospice may be made at the funeral home.
