Loran H. “Smokey” Burriss, age 93 of Mansfield, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 24, 1933, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, to the late Ezra Pumkin and Hazel (Carpenter) Burriss.

Loran retired from Crane Plumbing, and he was a member of the Mansfield Church of God. He truly enjoyed the time he spent with his church family, and he loved caring for his lawn and could often be found cutting his grass.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years Juanita (Smarr) Burriss; his children Bonnie (Pete) McKinney and Marilynn (Liz) Davis; son- and daughter-in-law Randy and Debbie Nutter; his brother Bill (Karon) Burriss; his grandchildren John (Laura) Sowders and Heaven McKinney; his great-grandchildren Spencer and Jasper McKinney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ezra and Hazel Burriss; his sisters Opal Clay, Bernice Williams, and Charlotte Pennington; his brothers Vernon “Jooko” Burriss, Hershel “Dubo” Burriss, Marlin Burriss, and Robert Burriss; and his first wife Mildred M. Burriss.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Services will follow at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jake Keister officiating.
