Sue Keesee, age 86, received her angel wings on June 13, 2026.

Sue spent over 30 dedicated years working at Kroger before retiring, where she built lifelong friendships and earned the respect of everyone who knew her. While she worked hard, her greatest and most cherished role was being the world’s most amazing Mawmaw.

There wasn’t a title she held more proudly or a job she loved more.  It didn’t matter if you were related by blood or by friendship, if you needed a grandparent, she would be your Mawmaw.  She had a way of turning strangers into friends and friends into family, making sure that you had a full belly and happy heart before you left her house.

Her home was always full of life and was the true definition of feeling “homey”. She found happiness tending to her flowers, watching hummingbirds gather at the feeders she faithfully kept filled, and blaring Chris Stapleton turned up to 100, because the moment felt right.

Sue also had a few favorites that became legendary among her family. Ice cream wasn’t just dessert—it was practically its own food group and was superior to any other food on the planet. Dairy Queen’s opening day was a holiday of its own at her house.  If you wanted to offer her a Miller Lite, you’d better make sure it came from an aluminum can, because everyone knew those held the cold better. She wasn’t changing her mind on that, and honestly, she probably wasn’t wrong.

Her quick wit, playful spirit, and unforgettable laugh could brighten even the hardest days.  She was known to chat for hours at the grocery store and incessantly sneak treats to her beloved grandpuppies.  More than anything, Susie loved fiercely. She poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. The memories she created, the traditions she started, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through generations.

The grief Susie’s family feels at her passing is surpassed only by the immeasurable love that they had for and felt from her every day.  They find comfort knowing that every hummingbird that visits and every scoop of ice cream, will forever remind them of the woman who taught them how to truly enjoy life and what unconditional love felt like

She is survived by her daughters Lynn (Richard) Trease, Robyne Hampton, and Kim Shoewalter along with Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many cherished friends and family members.

Preceded in death by spouse, parents, siblings, son-in-law Gregg Shoewalter, and granddaughter Haley Keesee.
