MANSFIELD — The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections recently recognized Bryce Ousley as employee of the year at Mansfield Correctional Institution.
Bryce Ousley has distinguished himself as a model of professionalism, integrity, and service at the ManCI.
With 11 years of dedicated experience, Ousley continues to embody what it means to be firm, fair, and consistent, a standard essential to correctional excellence.
Throughout his career, Bryce Ousley has demonstrated a deep commitment to maintaining a secure environment. He remains highly security-minded, regularly identifying and removing contraband, completing thorough quality rounds, supporting programming and ensuring that incarcerated individuals (IPs) are fully prepared for re-entry.
Among the many strengths Bryce Ousley brings to ManCI, adaptability stands out. He excels at navigating the unique challenges presented by both staff and the incarcerated population adjusting, problem-solving, and meeting people where they are.
Not too long ago, Bryce Ousley played a direct role in life-saving CPR, demonstrating calm, skill, and compassion during a critical moment. Even earlier in his career, during their first year as a Correctional Officer, he saved an incarcerated person experiencing an opioid overdose, displaying decisive action and commitment to human life.
Bryce Ousley goes far beyond the basic expectations of his role.
He served as a member of the Honor Guard, represent the institution at official events, and have participated in ceremonies such as the SOCF 33rd Annual Memorial.
He is also a CIT-trained crisis responder, offering critical support during emergencies. His efforts as a case manager contribute to reducing recidivism and crime by ensuring that individuals preparing for release have required documentation, including Social Security cards and birth certificates, and by providing thoughtful mentorship programs to guide IPs toward success.
As a veteran, Bryce Ousley brings discipline, resilience, and leadership to every aspect of his role. His military background reinforces the calm, steady presence they provide within the institution.
Whether coordinating unit activities, assisting peers, mentoring incarcerated individuals, or representing ManCI at departmental functions, Bryce Ousley demonstrates excellence every day.
