MANSFIELD — The Waterford of Mansfield has again been judged one of the best locations for senior living.
The assisted living facility at 1296 S. Trimble Road recently received the Best of Senior Living Award, awarded by A Place for Mom, the largest senior care referral service in North America.
The facility also achieved All-Star status for the third year in a row.
Waterford had a “Best of the Best” celebration in its lobby on Wednesday afternoon.
Facilities awarded Best of Senior Living are in the top 1 to 2% in the U.S. and Canada in senior care. All-Star status indicates the facility receives 20 or more annual reviews of four-and-a-half stars out of five, or better.
“Those ratings are helping us evaluate how we do with food service, cleanliness, staff, and resident satisfaction,” said Rev. Dr. Jim Carder, Waterford at Mansfield sales director.
Carder said he believes in the facility’s care for elders. His mother-in-law is a resident.
Faculty and family of residents shared stories of their time with the facility, and representatives of Mansfield explained the value and meaning behind the award.
Residents were given desert trays, refreshments and serenaded with music following speeches.
Miss Ontario Morgyn Beasley was also in attendance, singing the national anthem at the beginning of the festivities. Residents and staff rushed to the balloon arch at the back of the room to take pictures with Beasley.
Waterford Executive Director Dan Hellinger attributes the facility’s top-notch success to its 24-hour nursing care.
“Some facilities do not have that 24-hour coverage,” Hellinger said. “We also have dedicated care gives that are here to meet the needs of our residents, as well as the management team here, as well.”
Hellinger said residents are what allow Waterford to be the standard for elder care.
“One of the things that helps is the residents’ commitment to their community,” Hellinger said. “They share with us the things we do right, as well as the things we need to improve. It’s about communication and about sharing the joy here.”
