Rodney Dale Peterson, 70, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 in Riverside Methodist Hospital following complications due to a severe stroke.
The son of Roy and Mary Lou (Callihan) Peterson, Rodney graduated from Clear Fork High School. He was hired at Westinghouse before working as a guard for the Richland County Correctional Institution. Rodney retired after working 20 years.
Rodney loved his family. Spending holidays with his siblings or cheering on his nieces, and nephews. He was a Cleveland Indians fan through and through, and followed all the games. Rodney’s vinyl record collection was vast. He often enjoyed meals from his favorite restaurant, McDonalds.
Rodney never met a stranger and was friendly to everyone. His faith in Christ was strong. On January 19, 1982 he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, led to the Lord by Jeff Becker. Ephesians 2:8&9: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. No longer bound by his earthly body. Rodney is now in the presence of his Savior, Jesus.
Rodney is survived by his sister Deb (Greg) Smith and brother Roy Peterson; brother-in-law Pierre Goasdoué and sister-in-law Kathleen Peterson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Tom Peterson and sister Becky Peterson Goasdoué; nephew Philip Snelson; great niece Lydia Noelle Bellamy.
The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to assist the Peterson family with cremation services. Private graveside services will be held in Caesarea Cemetery.
