Darlene Fedina William, born on November 23, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio, passed away on May 18, 2026, at OhioHealth Mansfield.
A lifelong educator, Darlene graduated from Chaney High School at 17, earned her bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University at 20, and later obtained a Master’s in Education, specializing in science and history.
In 1970, while leading American high school students through Europe with the American Leadership Study Group (ALSG), she met her future husband, Ilhamy, in London.
Embracing his Egyptian culture, she moved to Cairo to teach at Cairo American College for two years. The couple married in 1976 and returned to Ohio, eventually settling in Mansfield, where Darlene would dedicate the next forty years to the community.
Darlene was a devoted mother to her sons, Adam and Mark. She was renowned for her quick wit, vibrant humor, and legendary cooking—which was so celebrated that friends would line up weeks in advance for a seat at her table. Whether baking for a school sale or hosting a festive holiday gathering, her culinary craft brought people together.
For four decades, Darlene taught at Mansfield Senior High School, shaping multiple generations of local families. Named Teacher of the Year, she will always be remembered for her liveliness and unforgettable presence in the classroom.
She is survived by her husband, Eng. Ilhamy William; her sons, Adam (Annette) and Mark (Mary); her brother, Larry Fedina; her sister-in-law, Dalal Nawar; and her niece and nephew, Dina (Nader) and Dr. Youssef Nawar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Metro and Honey Fedina; her parents-in-law, William Youssef and Soad Rizkalla; and her brother-in-law, Dr. Adel Nawar.
Per Darlene’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or funeral services.
