LOUDONVILLE – A snowplow that will clear area roads this winter now carries the work of Loudonville High School art students, who painted the blade as part of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Paint-the-Plow program.
Art 3 and Art 4 students, led by art teacher David Vaughn, spent four weeks designing and painting the blade.
Their design celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with patriotic imagery and features a covered bridge that honors the natural beauty and local significance of Mohican State Park.
Paint-the-Plow is an ODOT community outreach and safety initiative that invites K-12 students and vocational schools to turn real snowplow blades into original artwork.
The program gives students a chance to showcase their talents, connect with their community and raise awareness of winter road safety.
“I’m so proud of these students. They put a lot of time into this plow, and it turned out beautifully,” said Supt. Jennifer Allerding. “It’s a great way for our community to see their talent.”
Before the plow enters winter service, it will be displayed at community events in the area, giving residents a chance to see the students’ work up close.
