George E. Hicks, age 66 of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Oak Grove Manor Nursing Home. He was born on January 15, 1959, in Mansfield to the late John H. and Betty J. (Shaffer) Hicks.
George proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was good with his hands and enjoyed many different types of work, including factory work and construction, but above all else, he was a proud grandpa who loved his grandkids. He never missed a sporting event or dance recital if he could help it.
He will be remembered for his intelligence and his sense of humor, as well as the kindness he showed, most recently to the nurses who helped care for him. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his daughters Summer (Matt) Koehler and Erica (Chioke) Bradley; his siblings Charles (Diane) Hicks, Jonathan Hicks, Arthur (Brenda) Hicks, and Patrick Hicks; his grandchildren Myles, Mekhi, Chioke Jr., Lacee, Keontez, Izaak, and Makayla; his best friend Gerald Thayer; his ex-wife/friend Gayalene (Faulkner) Hicks; his beloved dogs Penny and Ava May; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Betty Hicks.
The family has moved the celebration of George’s life to Monday, November 3, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at VFW Post 9943, 806 Grace St., Mansfield, Ohio, 44905.
The family would like to offer their thanks to the nursing staff at Oak Grove Manor for their excellent care during George’s time there.
