About the event:

Join us on Saturday, September 20th in the Community Room at the main campus of the Mansfield-Richland County Public Library.
Rev. Joseph Yerger will present a lecture titled “Tolkien & Beowulf.” Tolkien, as a philologist, translated and taught several old English and related Nordic myths and tales. He believed that these ancient stories contained and presented truths which continue to be pertinent and relevant to our modern lives and our Christian faith. We will explore the Beowulf saga together and consider its contemporary relevance as storied myth and seek to identify relatable Christian themes.
Doors open at 9:45 AM. The first three guests to arrive will receive a free book (limit 1 per family). The lecture will begin at 10:15 AM and conclude by 11 AM. The conference room will remain open until noon for fellowship. All are welcome and the event is free to attend.
