O-H…I-O! A passionate Ohio State Buckeyes fan, LeeAnn Russell rarely missed a Buckeyes football game. Neighbors could hear her cheering, and on Saturdays in the fall, her friends knew she was watching her favorite college football team. LeeAnn was passionate about her Buckeyes, and she was even more passionate about her family and friends. A loving wife, sister, aunt and friend, LeeAnn Kathryn Russell, 72, of Mansfield passed away, Monday evening July 28, 2025 following a valiant battle with cancer.
The daughter of Ted H. and Kathryn B. (Knackstedt) Coleman, LeeAnn was a proud T-Y Tyger, a graduate of the Mansfield Senior High School class of 1971.
It was on a blind date that she first met Charles Russell. The two married on September 8, 1979 and celebrated 47 years of marriage.
For 27 years she worked for the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation before she retired. In her retirement LeeAnn worked for Tuttle Florist as well as Tom Sawyer Chiropractic.
Her love for The Ohio State Buckeyes ran deep and spanned numerous decades. She loved to tend to her flowers. Along with Chuck at her side, LeeAnn enjoyed golfing.
She was a little sassy, but had the best smile and gave the most incredible hugs.
LeeAnn is survived by her loving husband Charles “Chuck” Russell; brother Keith (Lisa) Coleman; brother-in-law John (Tom) Russell; Christopher (Ann) Scott; niece Kelly (Stephen) Parker; as well as her loving fur babies.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Janice E. (John L.) Scott; sister-in-law Laura L. Russell; and father-in-law Jack Russell.
A memorial celebration was recently held with LeeAnn’s close family and friends while she was alive to enjoy the special day. The Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Russell family. Although no services will be held at the funeral home, LeeAnn would want to be remembered the next time the Buckeyes score a touchdown, when you are outside tending to your flower garden, or teeing up your drive on the first hole of the day. Carry her memories with you and remember her beautiful smile.
