MADISON TOWNSHIP — Madison Local Schools superintendent Rob Peterson will be retired and is seeking re-employment in the same position.
The Madison Local School District Board of Education has announced a public meeting on this issue on June 18 at 6 p.m.
The event will take place at the Madison Middle School Auditorium located at 1419 Grace St.
Peterson is a 1986 Madison High School graduate. He took over the superintendent’s position on Aug. 1, 2020, originally signing a three-year contract at $115,000 per year.
“I have a strong passion for Madison students, staff, and the Madison community and look forward to providing the necessary leadership and support to help move the district forward,” Peterson said upon his hiring.
“We have great students at Madison, and we want to challenge them and support them every day so that when they graduate they are fully ready to be successful in the pathway of their choice.
He played baseball and basketball for the Rams as a high schooler, and also played baseball for the College of Wooster. Peterson was selected in the 32nd round of the 1989 amateur draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
After two years in the minor leagues, Peterson decided his degree from Wooster was his path forward, and started in the classroom as an English teacher at Madison High School. He was also successful head baseball coach for the Rams and worked as an assistant varsity basketball coach.
Peterson earned a master’s degree in administration and superintendent’s licensure from Ashland University.
His move toward administration began with a stint as assistant principal. Later he became principal at Madison High School and served in that position for 12 years.
Peterson and his wife, Heather (also a Madison graduate), have two children, Morgan (31) and Cory (29), who are graduates of Madison High School and Cedarville University.
