MARENGO – A Centerburg man was killed as a result of a three-vehicle crash in Morrow County that took place Monday night, according to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Randy Sheets, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Patrol.
The incident took place at 7:26 p.m. in Marengo at State Route 229 and Seymour Street, according to the Patrol.
Authorities stated that Sheets was traveling eastbound on State Route 229 on a 2019 Harley Davidson Electra Glide. Patricia Howard, 74, of Marengo, was traveling westbound on State Route 229 in a 2014 GMC Yukon. A juvenile driver was in a 2015 Ford Escape and was traveling westbound on State Route 229 behind Howard.
According to the Patrol, Howard failed to yield when she attempted to make a left turn onto Seymour Street and was struck by Sheets. Sheets then went left of center and was struck by the juvenile driver.
Sheets was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the Patrol reported. Howard, the juvenile driver, and their passenger were not injured and were wearing their seat belts.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, Morrow County EMS, Morrow County Prosecutor’s Office, Morrow County Coroner, 24/7 Towing, and Bill’s Towing. Alcohol and drugs are unknown at this time.
This crash remains under investigation.
