Ralph Walter Badgley, age 90 of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving girls. He was born on August 2, 1934, in East Liverpool, Ohio, the son of Ralph E. and Martha Badgley.
After graduating in the class of 1952 from East Liverpool High School, Ralph enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served 4 years. Following an honorable discharge, Ralph enrolled in The Ohio State University, where he pursued his engineering degree. His pursuit of electrical engineering led him to Hartman Electric in Mansfield, where he met the love of his life, his one and only Bun, his wife of 51 years.
Ralph had many passions in life, the earliest being baseball and music, and he was a lifelong fan of Ohio sports, most notably the Cleveland Browns and the Indians – “Go Tribe!” If he wasn’t watching or listening to a game, you could find him learning and playing a number of musical instruments, his favorite being the steel guitar, which he played in his band in the eighties. Following his retirement from Ohio Edison, Ralph spent his life enjoying the open road. He had a part-time job with Ryder where he enjoyed meeting new faces and making new friends. His greatest time behind the wheel was spending the years cruising with his Bun. His devotion to Donna was unwavering. The love between them was unquestionable, a bond that will remain earthside for decades to come through the love of their life together, Kelly.
Ralph is survived by his daughter Kelly (Lee) Shull; his granddaughters Kari Gonzalez, Katie Cox, and Alexxis (Drew) Szmania; his great-grandchildren Kira, Karlena, Izabel, Amelia, and Gilly; his brother Jerry (Judy); and his niece Loretta.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Bun; his parents; his brother Reverend Barry (Carol); his sister Suzie (Bill); and his stepchildren, Kim and Gary (LuAnn).
The family would like to offer a special thank-you to his peeps.
In strong opposition to his lifelong request to just be rolled over the hill, formal services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
