MANSFIELD — Three-thousand colorful Easter eggs were scattered across the lawn Saturday at the Richland County Dog Warden’s Office and Shelter.

A break in the weather allowed Playtime Dental and Braces’ annual Easter egg hunt to run smoothly as a large crowd of children anxiously awaited the event’s start at 3 p.m.

Whitney Cockley, Playtime’s office manager, said the hunt has been a popular event each year, which inspired her to double last year’s total number of eggs — 1,500.

Cockley’s husband, Dr. Jackson Cockley, is the owner of Playtime Dental and Braces.

The Cockleys said they appreciate being able to use the space at the shelter and enjoy having the opportunity to raise donations for it.

After the Easter egg hunt, participants had a chance to take photos with the Easter Bunny, with a donation to the shelter required. Donations could include dog food, treats, leashes, collars, toys, cleaning supplies and cash donations, among other items.
