GALION – Nathan Mendiola, a standout senior at Galion High School, has been named Galion’s recipient of the prestigious Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award for the 2024-2025 school year.

This distinguished honor recognizes academic excellence, leadership, and community service among high school seniors across Ohio.

Nathan was celebrated alongside other outstanding recipients from north central Ohio at a banquet and recognition ceremony held at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center on March 11.

The event highlighted the achievements of top students and provided them with an opportunity to honor an influential person who played a significant role in their academic journey.

As part of the ceremony, Nathan selected Felicity Melendez, his English teacher at Galion High School, as his “impact” person.

In front of a room full of educators, peers, and community leaders, Nathan expressed heart-felt appreciation by reading a letter of gratitude to Ms. Melendez, acknowledging her guidance and support.

The Franklin B. Walter Award, established by the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, recognizes one exceptional student from each county who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

The Galion City School District is proud of Nathan for this well-earned recognition and congratulates both Nathan and Ms. Melendez on this meaningful honor.
