Harlon Mays, age 68 of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1956, in Carter County, Kentucky.

Harlon was the owner/operator of the Red Lantern for 5 years. He loved old trucks and Harleys, and he also enjoyed the outdoors and often spent his days camping. Above all else, being a grandpa was his favorite thing, and his family was very dear to him. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Tammy (Collins) Mays; his children Shannon (Josh) Worthington, Shawn (Chara) Mays, Summer Mays, Brandon (Melissa) Mays, and Brody (Shawnta) Mays; his siblings Roger (Leta) Mays, Marlene Boggs, and Rodney (Linda) Mays; his mother-in-law Evelyn Simmons; his sisters-in-law Robin (John) Hawkins and Donna (Tim) Hawkins; his grandchildren Emily, Dalton, Tessa, Kylee, Brooklin, Kaden, Kamren, Kendall, Kalleigh, Colton, Grayson, Lil’ Brody, Gage, Aidan, Lillyana, Hunter, Cooper, and Makenna; his great-grandchildren Karson, Rylee, Parker, Emma, Easton, Jullyan, Sariyah, and Everleigh; several lifelong friends, including special friends Jim See, Jack Tackett, George Stover, Bobby Blevins, and Debi and Roger Reese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ottie (Porter) Mays; his siblings Darryl and Delena Mays; his father-in-law Bob Simmons; and his childhood best friend of 60 years, Jack See.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Services will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Hank Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery, and a dinner will follow the graveside services.
