Dixie Lee Trimble, of Galion, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on November 3, 1942, in Marion, to the late parents John and Waneta (Gibson) Bodman. Dixie met and married the love of her life Donald E. Trimble on October 21, 1961, they spent 63 wonderful years together.
Dixie filled her life with love, laughter, and unforgettable adventures. Dixie was a dedicated nurse assistant, caring deeply for her patients while also nurturing her family with the same devotion. Her kind spirit and warm heart made her a cherished member of the community. She was a lifelong lover of travel, with fond memories of camping trips, whale-watching excursions, and journeying to historic New England and Plymouth Rock. Summers spent at Myrtle Beach, trips to the Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and family gatherings in Van Lear, Kentucky, where Donald spent most of his life, these were all great highlights, alongside winter retreats to sunny Florida, where she sought warmth and joy. While these trips were fun and memorable, Dixie found great joy in cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes.
A gifted cook, Dixie delighted her family with delicious meals prepared from the heart, always bringing everyone together around the table. Her love extended to music as well; she was a longtime member of Southview Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing and playing the piano, and later transitioned to Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, where Dixie and Donald are current members.
In addition to her loving husband, Dixie is survived by her children: Donald A. Trimble of Hartford City, IN., Deborah Speelman of Mansfield, Diana (Joseph) Doyle of Galion, and Brice (Ana) Trimble of Galion; her brother: Jerry (Mernie) Bodman of Galion, and five grandchildren: Joshua (Ana) Speelman, Gavin Speelman, Zane Speelman, Carson Speelman, and Kayla Madden, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with Dixie’s parents, she is preceded in death by her brother John Bodman.
