MANSFIELD — The second of two men charged in a 2023 Halloween double-fatal shooting has decided not to stand trial.
Edonnez Williams, 19, appeared in Richland County Common Pleas Court on Jan. 6 before Judge Phil Naumoff, accepting a plea bargain for the Ferndale Road killings.
Williams pleaded guilty to two amended counts of attempted murder, four counts of felonious assault and one count of discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, according to Richland County Common Pleas Court records.
Eight other counts were dismissed by the state in exchange for the guilty pleas.
Naumoff imposed a prison sentence of 29 years, agreed upon by defense and prosecution attorneys.
The charges stem from a shooting at an 810 Ferndale Road party on Oct. 27, 2023. Brandon Collins, 18, and Jarmel Boyd, 17, were shot and killed while four others were wounded.
Williams’ co-defendant, Cyrus Ellerbe, was convicted after a trial on Sept. 5 on 15 charges and sentenced to 67 years to life in prison, according to court records.
Collins and Boyd were the 10th and 11th homicides Mansfield police handled by that point in October 2023.
