William F. Banks (Bill) of Mansfield passed away unexpectedly on Monday December 2, 2024, just 31 days after his wife Becky, and they are now together forever with the Lord. Bill was born April 6, 1941 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Richard and Mabel (Fuhrer) Banks.
Bill grew up in Shiloh, Ohio before moving to Lexington and graduating from Lexington High School in 1959. He married his wife Becky on Oct 21, 1961. He worked in sales his whole career, and he truly never met a stranger. Bill coached many area youth in a variety of sports, but he truly enjoyed his many years coaching baseball for Southwest Little League at Sterkle Park in Mansfield. Always the teaser, he was known for assigning a nickname to each player. He also spent many weekends playing euchre with his many grandsons teaching them the game, his “life lessons”, and teasing all the grandkids.
Bill was an avid student of the Bible and read his faithfully. He most recently enjoyed morning bible studies with his siblings: Janet (Tom) Moser, Jim (Sharron) Banks, Larry (Nancy) Banks and Sheli (Ron) Fairchild. He attended First Alliance Church, now Mansfield Alliance Church, for many years.
Left to cherish his memory and family legacy are his children Lisa (Brian) Sawman, Tim (Toby) Banks, Lori (Jeff) Ely, Sally (Roger) Dials, and Tammy Fisher, grandchildren Aimee Kovinchick, Alexander (Becky) Banks, Nicholas Kovinchick, Zachary (Alison) Banks, Joshua (Paige) Banks, Kendall (Ariel) Dials, Jacob (Katie) Ely, Megan Ely, Anna Kovinchick, Molly (Jeff) Hale, Isaac (Lillianna) Banks, Ellie Dials, Hannah (Grant) Stout, Sarah Ely, Brandon Fisher, Noah (Halie) Kovinchick, Michael Fisher, Hope Dials, Tim (Camila) Dials, Rachel Ely, William Ely, and Lydia Ely, as well as 20 granddaughters of the heart from Haiti, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held Friday, December 27th from 4-6pm followed by a celebration of Bill’s life at 6pm at Mansfield Alliance Church, 291 W. Cook Rd, Mansfield, Ohio, where friends and family will honor his memory. Please join us in celebrating his long and faithful life.
