SHELBY — There will be no shortage of holiday fun in downtown Shelby this weekend.

Shelby’s Christmas in the City activities, presented by the Shelby Downtown Business Team, begins Sunday in the heart of downtown at 10 a.m.

Cookie decorating and a craft will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Whispering Willow Way and Back To Our Roots Apothecary. Liberty Ink will create free temporary tattoos and stickers from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Folks can join a winter wonderland walk-through, planned by Tiger Paw Karate in Black Fork Commons Plaza from noon to 6 p.m. Dove Candle Bar will offer $3.99 kids candles, along with free hot chocolate and refreshments during the same time block.

Also in the Black Fork Commons area will be a vendor market from 1 to 6 p.m.

Letters to Santa can be written and sent from noon to 6 p.m. at S&S Second Chances Art & Craft Studio. Hot chocolate will also be served all day at the studio.

Also from noon to 6 p.m., more crafts — as well as face painting — will be available at The Little Shops of Shelby.

Thistle and Oak Tattoo Studio will be collecting winter hats and gloves from 1 to 4 p.m.

Crafts, treats and live reindeer

Elsa and Anna from Disney’s “Frozen” plan to visit on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Store, 54 E. Main St.

Families can participate in a gingerbread house contest and drop off their creation between noon and 2 p.m. at the VFW Post 291, 30 W. Main St. The houses will be judged at 3 p.m. and left up for display until 6 p.m.

Vets with Pets, a Shelby non-profit organization, will also be selling cotton candy inside the VFW from 1 to 6 p.m.

Live reindeer can be met at the historic downtown firehouse from 3 to 5 p.m., along with free hot chocolate.

For those craving more holiday treats, free hot cider and donuts will be available at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 46 E. Main St., from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Brunch will be served at The Vault Wine Bar from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by free hot chocolate and pictures with Santa from 4 to 8 p.m. A pizza buffet will also be available from 4 to 8 p.m.

Parade highlights Sunday activities

More food and crafts can be enjoyed at Legends, where Christmas bulb decorating and $1 hot dogs and chips will be offered from noon to 5 p.m. Food trucks are also set to be parked downtown Sunday near Black Fork Commons Plaza.

The Shelby Thrift Store is having a coloring contest (three winners), hot chocolate, coffee and cookies from 2 to 6 p.m. Crossroads Church will have a family photo booth, hot chocolate and ornament making at its downtown center, 21 E. Main St.

Sunday’s parade will stroll down Main Street beginning at 6 p.m. Three winners will be chosen; judges’ choice, best walking group and biggest twinkle (most lights.)

Black Fork Brewing will have a Christmas photo opportunity, cookies and hot chocolate from 6 to 9 p.m. Weber’s Bar is offering 80-cent wings and a free candy treat after the parade.

Folks can meet-and-greet the Grinch, as well as take a carriage ride, after the parade’s conclusion at The Well Coffee Shop.
